The speculation is over. We can officially announce APE 2025 – Return of the A.P.E.- GCAWAYJ. The event will take place on Saturday August 9, 2025 at the Hyak trailhead in Palouse to Cascades State Park Trail at Snoqualmie Pass.
This historic cache was placed in 2001 as part of a partnership between Groundspeak and 20th Century Fox. A worldwide series of geocaches was placed ahead of the release of the Planet of the Apes movie. Only two of the caches in the series have survived and this is the only one in the USA.
