As vast and spread out as the State of Washington happens to be, it’s rare to have the entire area covered with fun and lively geocaching events on those specific days that matter. Those days that offer geocachers a unique opportunity to earn points or virtual souvenirs and spend a little time with friends and folks they haven’t seen in ages or just happen to meet that day. Maybe share stories, exchange trackables, hop into each others geomobiles and hunt down the next FTF.

I’m very happy to announce that on this upcoming International Geocaching Day, you will be able to find a Souvenir awarded event all over the State of Washington. UPCOMING EVENTS

New WSGA Website updates have been made. We have added a drop-down menu for all things “Let’s Go Geocaching”, which might be subject to have a name change.

Inside this menu, you will find some new content. Including “Education Tools” featuring an available Intro to Geocaching slides show and it’s accompanied YouTube video of the events. We have added a “Geocaching Tools” menu featuring websites used to help you solve puzzles. These options are quite numbered and it is our goal to reduce the amount we have gathered. We are currently in the process of adding two menu items called “Friends of the WSGA” and “Geo-orgs”. These will have local and state organizations that we have worked well with and geo-orgs from outside the State of Washington. Please remember that some of these menu items may be subject to change based on redundancies, over-crowding, and usefulness.

The election season has started here at the WSGA. We are looking for candidates who are interested in serving the board in all positions for the 2024 – 2025 board. The tenure begins 4/1/24 and runs thru 3/31/25.
All positions are open though we do have many of our current members that will be running for another year. If you are interested in a Chapter Representative position, you are required to reside in the chapter that you want to serve. Executive committee positions (President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasure) are open to all Washington State Residents regardless of where in the state you live.
If you are interested in any position, please contact us via the contact page on this website which is located next to the “Membership” menu.
The deadline for nominees is 2/15/24. Once your nomination has been received, someone from our election committee will contact you to discuss the position you are interested in. All board members MUST be current WSGA members. Level of membership does not matter. You just must be a current WSGA member to serve on this board and must prepay your membership dues through 3/31/25.  If you have any questions regarding serving on our board, please reach out to us via the contact page on our website.

Our May business meeting is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 @ 6:30 PM. This is the first meeting for the 2023-2024 board. This zoom meeting will be broadcasted live via our YouTube channel. You will have the opportunity to post question or give us direct feedback up to the minute.

Update 6/11/23

• Campout registration packets are available in the store for $10 and only available for pick up at the event
  
• Don’t forget to get your campsite if your needing one

You read that correctly!  The WSGA is bringing back the campout in 2023!  The campout is scheduled to take place from 7/28/23  through 7/30/23. This year the Puget Sound Chapter is playing host to the event as the campout is being held at the Enumclaw Expo Center RV Campground.   All reservations will be done directly via the Enumclaw Expo’s website. There are only 18 campsites available, so the early camper gets the best campsite!

As part of the event, we will have a bucket run which will take place on Saturday, July 29th. The poker run is open to all. More info will be provided about the poker run on the campout event page when it gets listed. On the evening of July 29th, there will be a WSGA board meeting as well. All of the mentioned activities are open to all, WSGA members or not. There will also be a registration packet that will include campout merchandise and other information that will be available for purchase which can be purchased off of our website once it becomes available. We will have further announcements regarding the packet as it becomes available. 

Our March business meeting is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, March 15th @ 7 PM. This is the final meeting for the 2022-2023 board. This zoom meeting will be broadcasted live via our YouTube channel. Stop by our YouTube Channel and catch the meeting live. You will have the opportunity to post question to the board if you would like.

Nominations for the 2023-2024 board has officially ended. We will make an announcement on Friday February 24th with a list of the 2023-2024 WSGA Board nominees.  Voting will run from 3/1/23 – 3/10/23 and will be conducted online. More info to follow in our next post on 2/24/23.
