I first saw someone caching in the summer of 2003, in a very cool cemetery I was wandering around in. My prior hobby was genealogy, so anytime I saw an interesting cemetery I would check it out. This cemetery was quite a ways from home. I was interested but when I asked how many of these were around the state the reply was just a few. Later that year I got an email from one of the mail lists I belonged to. The individual was talking about bookcrossings. I checked out the site and found the closest book was in a geocache. That got me to the geocaching site where I discovered there were a few thousand (I recall the number 3500, but it may have been a few hundred more or less at the time). I saw where the closest cache was to home and couldn't believe there was one there. A friend loaned me his gps, which only had two positions for the decimal minutes instead of three, I only found a couple with that and by the end of the year I had upgraded to a Magellan Sport Track. I used a couple of other Magellan units during the years and now have an Oregon 300.

I'm a lifelong resident of Washington, and can narrow it a little more down to just South Snohomish County, I know pretty boring! I'm married and have two daughters ages 10 and 7. Been in the IT field for 25 plus years.

My geocaching name comes from the members of my family, when we started we thought it would be great family activity, after the first year or so they lost interest, my oldest says just take me to the cool ones, my youngest is still interested from time to time.

I've been accused of being very geeky with my hobbies and interests which include genealogy, Ancient Rome (which I never thought enjoying a good history book is geeky but I was recently told it fits right in), gaming (especially board games). I've also dabbled in baseball cards, and comic books off and on over the years.

Questions? Let me know.
