Has any planning on the WSGA Campout for 2010 happened? Would love to know the date so I can better plan summer camp trips. Reservations for state parks always book up early and would love to get my camping reserved for August SOON. Any news on where this year?

The 2010 campout is being hosted by the Central WA chapter, which includes the greater Tri-Cities, Yakima, etc. area. I don't believe any decision has been made yet by the chapter regarding the specific location. The date is typically mid-August...again, as far as I know, no specific reservation has been made at this time. -------------------- My geocaching profile page can be found at Half-Canadian and Scooter the Wonder Dog

As far as dates are concerned as Laurie said, it is usually the second weekend in August so I would put it as August 13-15th, right now although a formal decision by the board has yet to be determined. No specific reservation has been made yet but there are several ideas floating around and inquiries into those places has been made.
Thanks for asking. -------------------- I shot an elephant in my pajamas once. How he got in my pajamas I'll never know. -Groucho Marx

I'm pleased to announce that the 2010 WSGA Summer Campout will be held at Cascade Peaks Resort on Aug. 13-15, hosted by acfunk and the South Central WA Chapter. This was the host chapter's first choice for location and weekend, and after an ad-hoc committee visited the campground last weekend, the Board voted unanimously in favor.
Cascade Peaks is on Hwy 12 between Randle and Packwood, south of Mt Rainier and west of Yakima. (FYI, the closest cache to the campground is currently GC1GD9C.) We are reserving 30 sites in The Meadows, a section of individual sites where they put groups. All sites have water and electrical hookups, a grill and picnic table, and can be used for tents or RVs. (One tent/RV and vehicle per site, unless you pay extra.) There are two restroom/shower buildings next to us. I made a color-coded map so you can see where we will be and other key features. Our sites surround a grassy field (the meadow), and we have permission to use the field as our central gathering spot. Cars and RVs will need to stay in designated sites, but you can pitch tents in the group area if desired. We also can group all the picnic tables in the field, and there's at least one firepit. They have a large smoker grill that they will move to the meadow for us to use. Campground amenities include a store, laundry, pools, spa, playground, and lodge (kitchen, meeting/eating area). Acfunk is currently finalizing the reservation, and then we will get the event page and online reservations set up. Cost should be roughly the same as last year for both campers and day visitors. WSGA will be taking reservations for the two nights of the campout (Fri/Sat, Aug 13/14); those who want to stay extra nights will need to contact Cascade Peaks directly. ----------------------------------------------- The Meadows - we'll have 30 individual sites surrounding this field, and use of the field. We're now taking reservations for the 2010 WSGA Summer Campout.
The 7th annual Campout will be Aug. 13-15 at Cascade Peaks Resort, on Hwy 12 south of Mount Rainier. This is WSGA’s first campout in the Cascade Mountains, and it's a lovely area, right on the Cowlitz River. Our hosts, acfunk and the South Central Washington Chapter, have lots of fun stuff planned, and the Goodie Bags will include a Campout pathtag (see below). Early registration bonus: If you register for a campsite before May 31, you'll be entered in a drawing for 10 geocoins. See the event page for details on this and all the Campout activities. Member bonus: All geocachers are welcome at the Campout, but if you're a WSGA member, you'll save more than the cost of annual dues on your campsite and registration.
