The WSGA Board of Directors will hold our first Business Meeting of 2012 on Thursday, Jan. 26. The meeting will be 7:00-9:00 pm in Live Chat. All members are welcome to attend. To join the meeting, simply click Live Chat in the top navigation.

It's January again - a new year and time to renew your WSGA membership.
If you haven't already done so, please take a moment to renew your membership and help us fund the activities we have planned for 2012, our 10th anniversary year! (If you've already renewed, the box at top-left of the home page should say "Membership Expires: 12/31/2012.")
Have more than one person under your account? Consider the Family Membership; it's only $6 more than an Individual Membership ($18 vs. $12) and helps offset the additional member costs - plus you get a name badge for each person and double Member Bonuses.
Want a refresher on our membership benefits? Here you go. In addition to supporting the general activities of WSGA - events, coins, campouts, website, newsletter, member swag, and more - over half your dues are returned to your chapter for local events.

The Board's final business of 2011 was to approve (unanimously) a substantially revised set of WSGA Bylaws.
This is the first major update of our Bylaws since the club was founded in 2002, and a statewide organization with 376 members in 7 chapters (as of 12/31/11) needs more structure than a Puget Sound club with 19 folks (our founders). The revised Bylaws should provide more clarity, governance, and transparency into the club's operating principles.

The nomination period has closed, and we're pleased to present the slate for the 2012 WSGA Board of Directors. The current Board may be the strongest WSGA has ever had, and we're excited that 9 of 11 members are returning for the club's 10th anniversary year. Thanks to these cachers for their enthusiasm and dedication to WSGA and geocaching, and special thanks to acfunk for chairing the Nominations Committee. 
Since this year's slate has no contested offices, an election isn't really necessary. Therefore, the current Board voted to have the slate approved by member acclamation. Accordingly, WSGA members have until Dec. 10 to notify acfunk, the election chair, of any objections to the Board slate. If there's no dissent, the 2012 Board of Directors will be deemed confirmed by acclamation.
UPDATE Dec. 15: There having been no dissent, the following WSGA Board of Directors is confirmed for 2012 (in office through March 2013, when we move to the new election cycle).
We thank our two retiring members, pazooter and FrednVicki, for their service, and welcome our two new members: Mr. Gadget #2 (Cache-Cadia Chapter Rep) and Geek&Gopher (Southwest WA Chapter Rep). The only other Board change is an officer swap: jcar is now Vice President, and acfunk is the new Secretary.

The nomination period for officers for the 2012 WSGA Board of Directors is now open. Nominations for all Board positions are open until Thursday, November 10. Nominations are for the following positions:
Officers (Executive Committee): President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer
Chapter Representatives: Puget Sound, 48 North, Cache-cadia, Inland Empire, South Central WA, Southwest WA, Olympic Peninsula
If you would like to get involved, please consider running for office, or nominate someone you feel would do a good job representing WSGA. Send your nominations to the current Vice President and election chair, acfunk. Please note that nominees must be current members of WSGA.
The 2012 election will be held from December 1 through 15.
